Audience:
Substance abuse counselors, social workers, mental health counselors, nurses, recovery counselors and interested human services professionals.

Purpose:
The ASAM patient placement criteria, is the result of a collaboration that began in the 1980s to define one national set of criteria for providing outcome-oriented and results-based care in the treatment of addiction. Today the criteria have become the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for placement, continued stay and transfer/discharge of patients with addiction and
co-occurring conditions. ASAM's criteria are required in over 30 states. This training is geared to help clinicians gain more skill in determining appropriate placement, continued stay and transfer/discharge of patients

Objectives:
During this workshop we’ll:
• Review a brief history of the ASAM placement criteria
• Review the 6 Dimensions
• Discuss the severity levels associated with each of the 6 Dimensions
• Review Questions to help clinicians in the interviewing process of the patients
• Review the levels of care that are offered at Jackson Recovery Centers.

Facilitator:
Kimberlee Niemeier, MA, LBSW, ACADC is the Acting Administrative Director for Outpatient Services. She has her Bachelor of Social Work license as well as is an Advanced Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Social Work degree as well as her Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Dakota. She has worked as a Therapist, Intake Clinician, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager in her 16 years of employment at Jackson Recovery Centers.
