Prevention Classes
OWI/DUI (Prime For Life)
This class is for anyone with an impaired driving offense and is required by the Iowa Department of Transportation. The cost for the class is $115.00 and must be paid prior to the class. We accept MasterCard or Visa, money order or cash. We do not accept personal checks. OWI / DUI classes are also available in Spanish.
We offer
the DUI class in all of our locations including Sioux City, Mapleton, Le Mars,
Cherokee, Denison, and Harlan.

Family Education
Family Education is a four-part series that is free to the public. This program takes an in depth look at how addiction, co-dependency and recovery affect the family.
Diversion Class - For Adolescents
Jackson Recovery Center's Diversion Class is a 3-hour program designed for adolescents who:
- Have parents who are concerned about teen use
- Have been charged with a minor in possession or frequenting a disorderly house
- Have violated school policy
Class objectives:
- To strengthen parent/child communication
- To develop positive family support
- To enhance decision-making skills
- To prevent substance use
A parent or guardian is required to attend the class. Cost for the class is $45 per family. Payment is due prior to class. To register, contact each individual office.

Options Class - For Young Adults
Jackson Recovery Center's Options Class is a 6-hour program designed for young adults who:
- Have continued drug/alcohol problems
- Have violated school policy and/or law enforcement policy
- Have previous history with alcohol or drug-related incidents and/or experimentation
- Have second offenses such as 2nd minor in possession
Class objectives:
- To interrupt substance use progression
- To identify past and current impact of their substance use
- To assist participants in planning for their future
Cost for the class is $75. Payment is due prior to class. To register contact each individual office.

About Prevention
Jackson Recovery Centers has a long and successful history of providing substance abuse/addiction education, prevention and consultation services. Prevention offers communities, schools, families and coalitions an important opportunity to stop alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems before they start. Prevention can also provide hope for effecting community change to support healthy behaviors.
Prevention services provide evidence-based programming designed to meet individual and community needs.
Our programs include:
- School programs covering classroom training, teacher in-service, school assistance and district needs
- Professional workshops designed for businesses, organizations and community groups
- Drug Free Workplace supervisory training
- DOT-required 2-hour training courses and yearly updates
- Family Education series designed to answer the questions and concerns of families affected by various addictive behaviors
- Community coalition consultation
- 3-hour Juvenile Diversion Class for youth with a first alcohol-related offense
- 6-hour OPTIONS class is for anyone (youth or adults) with a drug-related or a second alcohol-related offense
- 12-hour Prime For Life (Driving Un-Impaired) class for anyone (youth or adult) with an impaired driving offense
- Girl Power!, a multi-session program for middle school girls
- Research based "best practices" curricula for middle school students
Our programs cover a variety of topics, including:
- Alcohol, tobacco and other drug use
- Eating disorders
- HIV/AIDS
- Substance abuse signs and symptoms
- Senior citizen issues
- Problem gambling
- SAFE (Substance Abuse Free Environment) certification
- Community of Promise designation
- These services are available in our seven county area
