Siouxland CARES Siouxland CARES (Community-wide Awareness, Resources, Education and Support) About Substance Abuse is a community coalition comprised of almost 300 volunteers whose mission is to improve the quality of life in Siouxland by eliminating the abuse of alcohol and other drugs and related violence.

Iowa Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a telephone survey of adults 18 years or older of self-reported health behaviors including tobacco use and gambling habits. The survey is designed to identify and monitor risk factors for chronic diseases and other leading causes of death.

Iowa Family and Community Information Tracking System (FACITS) FACITS provides a variety of detailed data on factors that influence the health and well-being of individuals and communities in Iowa. Iowa Youth Survey Report, pdf format In 1999 and 2002, 6th, 8th, and 11th grade students across Iowa answered questions about their attitudes and experiences regarding substance abuse and violence, and their perceptions of their peer, family, school, and neighborhood environments. Survey reports list responses to survey questions, providing total percentages and breakdowns by grade and gender. Reports are available in the following categories for 1999: State of Iowa, Counties, Judicial Districts, DECAT Regions, Department of Human Services Regions, and the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Treatment and Substance Abuse Prevention Planning Regions. Report helps identify youth development-related needs.

Substance Abuse Web Portal from IPIC The Iowa Practice Improvement Collaborative's (IPIC's), new site offers valuable resources to practitioners in the field. The web portal provides linkages to Iowa Substance Abuse Data (adult and adolescent), professional site links for prevention, treatment, and education, support and advocacy, federal agency links, and training modules for Program Evaluation, Professional Web Searching, and Writing Grant Proposals.
