Iowa Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a telephone survey of adults 18 years or older of self-reported health behaviors including tobacco use and gambling habits. The survey is designed to identify and monitor risk factors for chronic diseases and other leading causes of death.

Iowa Family and Community Information Tracking System (FACITS)
FACITS provides a variety of detailed data on factors that influence the health and well-being of individuals and communities in Iowa. Data are available for the State and each of Iowa's 99 counties. Iowa Youth Survey Report, pdf format
In 1999, 2002 and 2005, 6th, 8th, and 11th grade students across Iowa answered questions about their attitudes and experiences regarding substance abuse and violence, and their perceptions of their peer, family, school, and neighborhood environments. Survey reports list responses to survey questions, providing total percentages and breakdowns by grade and gender. Reports are available in the following categories for 1999: State of Iowa, Counties, Judicial Districts, DECAT Regions, Department of Human Services Regions, and the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Treatment and Substance Abuse Prevention Planning Regions. Report helps identify youth development-related needs.

RADAR: Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource Network
The RADAR Network is sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's (CSAP's) information component, the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI). Working together, these organizations provide a wealth of information to keep those in the substance abuse prevention field informed about the latest regulations, alcohol and drug use, scientific findings, campaigns and materials, and other resources. ISAIC is the RADAR state center for Iowa.
SAMHSA: Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
SAMHSA is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses.
CMHS: Center for Mental Health Services
CMHS leads Federal efforts to treat mental illnesses by promoting mental health and by preventing the development or worsening of mental illness when possible.
CSAT: Center for Substance Abuse Treatment
The SAMHSA center that has programs designed to improve treatment services and make them more available to those in need.
CSAP: Center for Substance Abuse Prevention
The SAMHSA center whose mission is to provide national leadership in the Federal effort to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug problems. CSAP participates in the development of new knowledge about prevention, disseminates it in a user friendly manner, and encourages its application in settings where it is likely to prevent or reduce substance abuse.
OAS: Office of Applied Studies

NATTC: National Addiction Technology Transfer Center
A nationwide, multi-disciplinary resource that draws upon the knowledge, experience and latest work of recognized experts in the field of addictions.
NCADI: National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information
NCADI is the world's largest resource for current information and materials concerning substance abuse.
NCHS: National Center for Health Statistics
NCHS, a part of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), is the Federal Government's principal health statistics agency, and provides a variety of health data.
NIAAA: National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
The NIAAA, a research institute of the National Institutes of Health, supports and conducts biomedical and behavioral research on the causes, consequences, treatment, and prevention of alcoholism and alcohol-related problems. NIAAA also provides leadership in the national effort to reduce the severe and often fatal consequences of these problems.
NIDA: National Institute on Drug Abuse
NIDA is working to ensure the rapid and effective transfer of scientific data to policy makers, drug abuse practitioners, other health care practitioners and the general public.
ONDCP: Office of National Drug Control Policy
The ONDPC works to promote the implementation of drug control policies and programs at the State and local level of government.
